Georgia Chamber of Commerce

Georgia Chamber of Commerce (GCC) was established in 1915. At the time of its inception, it was known as the Georgia Manufacturing Organization. In 1939, the name was changed to Associated Industries of Georgia and the name was again changed to Georgia Business and Industry Association. Whatever be the name, the ideals and aims of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has remained the same over the years. The aim is to strengthen the economy of Georgia and make it more competitive. The Georgia Chamber of Commerce has a total membership in excess of 4000. This association has initiated numerous programs for the betterment of business activities in Georgia. The president of this association is George M. Israel, III.

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce plays a major role in putting forward the business community’s view on public policy, enhancing the prospects of economic prosperity of the state and encouraging efficient and ethical business practices. Partnerships on economic development have been strengthened through programs like Georgia Quail Hunt and the Red Carpet Tour. Each year, the Georgia General Assembly’s Legislative Session begins with the Annual Meeting and Eggs & Issues Breakfast of the Chamber of Commerce of Georgia. The role of the state in the economic development of the country is discussed by the premier political and business leaders of the state.

The committees of Georgia Chamber of Commerce give suggestions on legislations and policies by networking with companies having similar perspectives and goals. Representatives of government companies that are members of Georgia Chamber of Commerce primarily form the Government Affairs Council. The Economic Development Department of GIC also has its own set of financial commitments. On issues of communication, the Communications Committee of the GCC voluntary policy advising.
