Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce

Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce was established in 1890 by a few business leaders of Indianapolis, chief among them being Colonel Eli Lilly. At that time, the organization was known as Indianapolis Commercial Club. In 1912, the Indianapolis Commercial Club merged with a few other local business concerns and its name was changed to Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. The current president of the organization is Mr. Roland M. Dorson.

The services of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commercehave evolved and changed according to changing time and situations. Various business leaders of the city have at various points of time associated themselves with this organization. The organization looks to serve the total metropolitan area of the city as a whole and the name was changed in 2002 to Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce with this aim.

The Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization. The Chamber boasts of a total membership in excess of 4000. it has a total budget of $3.9 million and staff numbering 33. Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce conducts business advocacy through identifying and managing local issues. It also provides opportunities for networking and visibility.
