Corning Credit Union (CCU) is a financial cooperative providing banking services to member-owners in 13 branch locations spread across New York, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
In 1936, a group of 42 employees at the Corning Glass Works in west-central New York pooled funds to create a $420 source for loans among fellow members. The organization slowly expanded within the small town s factory workers, eventually growing into the nearby town of Elmira.
In time, opportunities to serve communities around other Corning company locations popped up and the institution opened offices in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
As word spread about the benefits of belonging to a credit union, CCU opened its membership to anyone who lives in those communities and employees of more than 1,000 other companies.
Products and Services:
The following products and services are being offered by the credit union:
Free and Interest-bearing Checking
Savings and Money Market Accounts
Mortgages, Auto, Personal, and Education Loans
Investment Accounts and Financial Planning
Home, Car, and Life Insurance Policies
Business Checking and Savings Accounts
Commercial Lending Services
As with all credit unions, CCU is governed by an elected group of volunteers that serve as the Board of Directors. These eleven people work with the President and CEO, as well as his executive team and the appointed members on the Supervisory Committee, to make decisions that keep the institution as financially healthy as possible while continuing to meet the membership s changing needs. Their work to ensure staff and services are of the highest quality possible has led the group to include more than 79,000 people and over $1.5 billion in assets.
