The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC)formulates policies regarding the imposition and collection of Customs and Central Excise duties. The CBEC is a part of the Department of Revenue functioning under the Ministry of Finance of the Government of India. The Central Board of Excise and Customs also regulates policies in order to prevent smuggling and deals with the issues of Central Excise, Customs and Narcotics. The organizations such as Central Excise Commissionerates, Custom Houses and Central Revenues Control Laboratory are the subordinates of the board and are under the direct control of the board.
